Had a Hot From the Pot Shrimp Boil on Rosemary Beach, July 5, 2012.
ReplyDeleteGuests kept bragging that this was "the best shrimp they had ever had". I finally had to try a plate myself and I have to say I really outdid myself on this one. It was the perfect blend of warm spices and sweetness.
I servied 30 count gulf shrimp with red potatoes and corn. My customers also had hotdogs for roasting over an open firepit and makings for Smores.
The team at Rosemary Beach that provides chairs and umbrellas also offers their evening service where they set up chairs for your guests, 1 table for food and about a 10 ft wide cabana as a wind barrier in front of the table. There were also two tiki torches lit at the table which provided plenty of light for seeing the items on the table.
It was a great evening, although they could have used another bag of marshmallows. Although I provided an extra bag, the fun of just roasting marshmallows by themselves was too tempting. So now I know, always have extra marshmallows.
I had a few guests interested in the idea of the shrimp boil on the beach. It really does break the monotony of the typical burger and hotdog cookout.
One very important issue was the lack of a ramp from the deck that was about 40 ft above the beach. I learned that approx. every other deck has a ramp. My customers had reserved deck C, but some mishap at the office landed them on B at the last minute. Needless to say, the ramps were on A & C, none on B. So, if you are thinking of having a get-together on that beach, ask if our deck has a ramp. Life will be much more pleasant if there are heavy items to get down there. I have coolers with wheels, except for one very large cooler and it was HEAVY for those guys to carry down those steps.
All in all, I would say it was a great success and I look forward to many more "Hot From the Pot Shrimp Boils".
